The Township of West Lincoln offers a variety of general interest and hobby programs throughout the year. Find information on upcoming courses below or call Recreation Services at 905-957-3346 ext. 4682.

Courses are held at the West Lincoln Community Centre, at 177 West Street, in Smithville.

Babysitting Training $77

Provided by SOS 4 Kids. Does your teen or tween want to care for younger children? Do they want to earn some extra money? The Babysitting Course is designed for youth aged 11-15. 

Participants learn how to run a small business and how to supervise younger siblings or other children in a safe and responsible manner. Aspiring babysitters also learn basic first aid skills.

Cost includes instruction manual and certificate.Please bring a lunch, drink, snack, pen and a large doll or teddy to practice on. No peanut or nut products please.

Course Content:

  • How to find clients and make money babysitting
  • Caring for children of all ages
  • Creating safe environments and preventing accidents
  • Fire safety and prevention
  • What to do in an emergency
  • Good decision-making and leadership skills
  • Basic First Aid skills

Home Alone Safety Course $77

Provided by SOS 4 Kids. Is your child ready to stay home alone? The Home Alone Safety for Kids programs helps children and their families get ready for their child’s first steps towards independence and being without adult supervision for short periods of time. 

This safety program is ideally suited for children between 9 and 12-years-old. Safety and accident prevention are the common themes throughout the program. The information is relevant and current to today’s young learners.

Cost includes, manual and certificate. Please bring a lunch, drink, snack and pen. No peanut or nut products please.

  • People safety (“Tricky People” and Safe strangers)

First Aid & CPR - Level "C" Course $138

This Emergency First Aid course provides simple First Aid & CPR techniques in an interactive environment that help you respond to emergencies at home, work, or anywhere medical emergencies can occur. Recognize and respond to cardiovascular emergencies for adults (CPR Level A) or adults and children (CPR Level C), as well as choking emergencies, airway emergencies, breathing emergencies, and the prevention of disease transmission.

Under the WSIB regulation 1101, this level of certification is required for workplaces with 1 – 5 employees.

After completing this course, you will have your:

  • Emergency First Aid Certificate
  • CPR C Certificate
  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certificate
  • 6.5 – 8-hour course with flexible scheduling options for private courses,
  • Includes CPR Level A (for workplace and general public) or CPR Level C (for families, parents, general public and child care professionals)
  • Provides you with a 3-year valid certification recognized by WSIB in the workplace
  • Includes AED (Automated External Defibrillation) certification
