Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff with West Lincoln Mayor Ganann, Councillors Chechalk, Maychak and Reilly

Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff joined Mayor Cheryl Ganann at Township administration this afternoon, to announce that West Lincoln will be receiving $3,969,375 in Provincial funding through the second intake of the Housing Enabling Water Systems Fund.

The Housing Enabling Water Systems Fund is designed to help municipalities develop, repair, rehabilitate and expand critical drinking water, wastewater and Stormwater infrastructure.

This funding will allow for the construction of appropriate water and wastewater infrastructure in West Lincoln, to unlock much-needed housing and meet growth targets, while also enabling the maintenance of existing assets without burdening taxpayers.

Support for West Lincoln’s infrastructure needs is a matter that Township representatives have taken many opportunities to advocate for with members of Provincial Cabinet, most recently with the Minister of Infrastructure at the annual ROMA conference. The Township is incredibly grateful to receive this significant investment from the Province and for the ongoing support from MPP Oosterhoff.

“This is the largest application-based Provincial funding that the Township has ever received. The longer it takes to get this critical water and wastewater infrastructure in place, the higher the project cost becomes, so I am beyond pleased with today’s announcement from MPP Oosterhoff. I cannot understate what a major impact this will make in our small municipality.”

Mayor Cheryl Ganann
