Updated: September 12, 2024, to reflect new time for Open House

At a ribbon cutting ceremony on August 22, Mayor Cheryl Ganann and members of Council joined Fire Chief Dennis Fisher to mark the official opening of West Lincoln’s new Fire Station 2.

Building a new Fire Station 2 to replace the previous building, which was built in 1959 for Public Works and repurposed as a Fire Station in 1995, was included as a short-term initiative in the Township’s Strategic Plan in 2019. The project cost came within the final budget of $3,456,590 (excluding HST) allotted in 2022. The Township was awarded a $540,000 grant for this project from the Canadian Community Building Fund.

Since breaking ground in 2022, construction was met with delays due to circumstances outside of the Township’s Control. Council and Staff remained resolute in their determination to see this project to completion for the West Lincoln community.

West Lincoln Fire & Emergency Services took occupancy of the new Fire Station 2 on July 24. Twenty volunteer firefighters and four trucks are now operating out of this facility, providing essential lifesaving service to the rural communities of West Lincoln.

West Lincoln Fire & Emergency Services is inviting the public to a Station 2 Open House on Saturday, September 28. Come out to 8635 Regional Road 65, in Caistor Centre, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and join the fun. The day’s festivities will include tours of the new facility, opportunities to meet local firefighters and check out the fleet, plus games and a free breakfast.
