The Ontario Government is proposing to expand strong mayor powers to the heads of Council in 169 additional municipalities, including West Lincoln. This new framework, announced April 9, would come into effect May 1, 2025.

Strong mayor powers have been gradually rolled out across Ontario to help municipalities deliver on provincial priorities, such as building more homes, transit and other infrastructure across Ontario. Learn more about strong mayor powers and duties.

Administration will conduct the necessary review of procedural and governance by-laws in the coming weeks, to ensure the Township is compliant with new Provincial regulation.
