The Township of West Lincoln is developing a Recreation and Parks Plan. The plan will provide a roadmap to enhance and grow the Township’s parks and recreation facilities, services and events. It will also guide decision making across all aspects of parks and recreation, from playgrounds to programs and everything in between.
Community engagement plays a vital role in informing the direction of the Recreation and Parks Plan. The multi-phase consultation process includes interviews with key user groups, Council and staff, a statistical online survey (which will launch in the fall) and an in-person community engagement workshop for residents across the Township.
Join us on Thursday, September 26, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the West Lincoln Public Library – Smithville Branch Program Room, to participate in the community engagement workshop. A short presentation will be followed by small-table discussions where participants will have the opportunity to provide meaningful feedback about recreation and parks in West Lincoln.
The Township retained McQueen Galloway Associates (MGA) and GSP Group consulting firms to complete all phases of this project. MGA and GSP understand communities like West Lincoln and the complexity of balancing community needs across the entire Township. Key components of the planning process include:

“I love finding the hubs and nooks in our community where people gather to play and socialize and do life together. West Lincoln is filled with all kinds of jewels of opportunity like this – facilities, amenities, programs and events where even minor investments could make a great impact. We have lots of room for growth, and we know growth is coming, so I encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to provide input into what the future of our recreation and parks will look like.”
Mayor Cheryl Ganann
“West Lincoln’s Recreation and Parks Plan will guide the revitalization of our current recreation and parks landscape and inform the development of new amenities and service opportunities for the next 30 years. Help shape the future of your community by getting involved in the engagement process and providing your input.”
