Mayor Cheryl Ganann, Councillors Joann Chechalk and William Reilly and Chief Administrative Officer Truper McBride represented West Lincoln at the 2025 Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) Conference, held in Toronto from January 19 to 21. This annual conference enables municipal leaders to advocate for strategic priorities with provincial officials and connect with peers to share knowledge and ideas.
The Township delegation met with the Honourable Kinga Surma, Minister of Infrastructure, to discuss West Lincoln’s infrastructure needs. The delegation requested additional funding, to allow the construction of appropriate water and wastewater infrastructure for much-needed housing and to allow asset management targets to be met without burdening taxpayers.
Appropriate plans for infill, intensification and growth in designated areas are in place, as are provincially mandated asset management plans. Additional Provincial funding would unlock the necessary increases in servicing to support growth while also balancing requirements to maintain existing assets.

“As always, I am proud to represent and advocate for West Lincoln. This conference provides a great opportunity for us not only to speak directly with members of Provincial Cabinet, but to also connect with other small municipalities facing similar challenges. It offers valuable time to build our network of support and to discover creative and innovative solutions – we need not problem solve in a vacuum.”
Mayor Cheryl Ganann
