The winter intake for the Township’s free “The Best Years 55+” programming is beginning soon, right in time to help older adults in West Lincoln achieve new year’s resolutions to stay active, socialize and get creative. All programs are being held at or depart from the West Lincoln Community Centre, at 177 West Street, in Smithville.
Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m., January 14 & 16 to March 25 & 27 (excluding March 11 & 13).
Workshop 1: Create a succulent planter on January 30 at 11 a.m.
Workshop 2: Craft a spring bulb planter on March 6 at 12 p.m.
Wednesdays from 3 to 4 p.m., January 15 to March 19. The bus leaves from the West Lincoln Community Centre at 2:15 p.m. sharp.

This programming is free for adults aged 55 and over thanks to $20,970 in funding awarded to the Township in 2024 through the Seniors Community Grant. Provided by Ontario’s Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility, this grant and aims to address social isolation and help older adults stay healthy, safe, and active in their communities. The fall intake of programs included Tai Chi classes, ukulele lessons, a Grand River Lunch Cruise, a trip to the St. Jacobs Market and a semi-formal dance.
