Stanpac Ice Arena

The West Lincoln Community Centre is where you can find the best ice surface in Niagara and beyond. The Stanpac Arena is a state-of-the-art facility. We offer skating programs for all ages and ice rentals are available.

All skating programs take place at the West Lincoln Community Centre, at 177 West Street, in Smithville. We strongly recommend using CSA-approved helmets for all skating activities.

Implied assumption of risk 

By participating in Township programs the participant accepts the risks associated with the activity and agrees to the following: 

I am aware that I may be exposed to infectious diseases, such as COVID-19, by using the Township of West Lincoln Arena and Community Centre, and I agree to assume all risks associated with contracting such illnesses and I waive all claims against the Township of West Lincoln that I may suffer by contracting such illness, regardless of how the illness was caused, including negligence on the part of the Township of West Lincoln.  I further agree to indemnify the Township of West Lincoln should anyone make a claim for damages against the Township as a result of my illness or should a minor in my care make a claim for damages as a result of his or her own illness. 

 Public Skating

Lace up your skates and enjoy the many health benefits of being active. Public skating begins mid-September and runs until April.

General Public Skating Rules: 

  • Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

  • C.S.A approved helmets are strongly recommended for participants on the ice.

  • Skating aids permitted at centre ice area only. 

  • Speeding, chaining, tag games, horseplay, snowballs and improper behaviour are not permitted.

  • All participants are required to wear skates on the ice surface.

  • Participants are not permitted on the on the ice while the Olympia is resurfacing.

  • Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.  

  • Ice capacity is 160.

  • Alcoholic beverages, illegal substances and anyone under the influence will not be permitted on the premises.
  • You must adhere to the directions of arena staff members.

 Adult Skating

Adult skating is a good time to practice your skating skills without the worry of crowding or speed.

Adult skating begins mid-September and runs until April.

 Pre-School Skating

Pre-school skating is great for the preschooler just learning to skate. Adults have plenty of space and time to help their preschoolers learn the basics of skating.

 Stick & Puck

Stick & Puck is an unstructured time to work on basic stick/puck handling and skating skills. Adults have plenty of space to help their children learn and develop these skills.

Full equipment including CSA approved helmet is required for children. Adults are required to wear a CSA approved helmet, gloves and skates. Please bring your own equipment including pucks

Stick & Puck Rules:

  • Maximum of 30 participants. First come, first served.

  • Maximum two children per adult.

  • Parents or caregivers must be 18 years of age or older and are required to be on the ice, directly supervising the child at all times.

  • Slap shots and organized games or practices are not permitted. 

  • Profanity and improper behaviour is not permitted. 

  • All accidents or injuries must be reported to arena staff members immediately.

  • No headsets, cell phones or handheld electronic devices permitted while skating

  • All participants must wear skates while on the ice surface.

  • Participants are not permitted on the on the ice while the Olympia is resurfacing.

 Shinny

Can't get enough of hockey? Come out to play shinny! It's a great opportunity to play fun pick-up hockey with friends without the worry of renting ice. Shinny is open to everyone.

Story Skate

Presented by the West Lincoln Public Library. Enjoy this free movement-based short story time including music, dancing and fun props.

  • Parental supervision is mandatory

  • Recommended for ages 3-5 and their caregiver

  • Registration is required

Ice rentals  

Do you want to practice your skating skills, host a birthday party or plan a private event? Don't delay, book your ice time today! To inquire about booking ice time, please contact Recreation Services at 905-957-3346 ext. 4688, scroll down to make an online ice rental request or email us. Availability is extremely limited.

Below you can find West Lincoln's rental rates for the arena. Rates are subject to change and are effective as of September 1 each year. Any rental fee listed includes taxes.

  • Prime Rates - Weekdays (5 p.m. to close), Weekends (6 a.m. to close), Statutory Holidays
  • Non-Prime Rates - Weekdays (6 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
  • Ice surface is available early September to early April each year.

Ice Rental Conditions

After you have reviewed the Ice Rental Conditions, you can complete the online Ice Rental Request Form. Recreation Services will review your submission, contact you with an approval or denial of your rental and provide you with next steps. Availability is extremely limited.
