Fire Protection and Prevention Act

The Fire Protection and Prevention Act is the Act from which the Ontario Fire Code is regulated.  The Fire Protection and Prevention Act is an Act to promote Fire Prevention and Public Safety in Ontario and to amend and repeal certain other Acts relating to the Fire Services.  This Act also gives Firefighters and Fire Inspectors their rights of entry and action to perform their jobs as well as outlining Municipal responsibilities for fire prevention and protection.

Ontario Fire Code

The Ontario Fire Code is Provincial legislation that enables a Municipality to ensure all buildings are maintained to an acceptable standard.  The Code is a Regulation under the Fire Protection and Prevention Act and serves as a maintenance document to the Ontario Building Code.
