Secondary Plan for the North-West Quadrant

Through the Township’s Official Plan Amendment 37, which was approved in 2015, additional lands were brought into the Urban Boundary of Smithville.  Approximately 34 hectares (84 acres) of additional residential land was added to the north-west boundary of Smithville.The Township has hired MHBC Planning to create a Secondary Plan for these lands to identify how the lands should be developed.  The Secondary Plan will identify areas for low, medium and high density residential development; parks and trails; storm water facilities; road networks and potentially, some local commercial.The first Public Open House was held on March 31, 2016.  Future Public Meetings will be held as public input and consultation is an important aspect of this project.  Township Staff have requested that any comments regarding this project be received by April 25, 2016.Please continue to visit this page to keep informed of the process.
